Class4: Parts of Speech - Adjective and Kinds of Adjective

In the Earlier Study of Parts of Speech, we Learn about Pronoun and Kinds of  Pronoun in Detail. Today we  Will Learn another Main Part of Parts of Speech which is the Adjective. We use Adjectives in Our Daily Conversations, but we don't know its Importance in the English Grammar & in Parts of Speech. So Today we Will Discuss Adjectives and the Kinds of Adjectives Briefly.

What is an Adjective?

The adjective is a word which Admire or Defame a Noun or Pronoun or Show it's Quality or Quantity. For Example.
  1. Madonna is a Smart Girl.
  2. We have ten Professional Players in our Hockey team.
  3. John is A fat Boy.
  4. Aliza is a Talented Swimming Star.
In the Above Lines Smart, Ten, Fat and Talented are Adjectives Because these words are Admiring, Defaming a noun or Pronouns or Showing its Quality or Quantity.

Kinds of Adjectives:

In English Parts of Speech, the Adjective has five Different kinds which are the Following.

  • The Adjective of Quality: Those words which show the Personal Goodness or Badness of a Noun or Pronoun. For Example.
  1. Ayesha is A good Girl
  2. Marina is Very Bad in English parts of Speech.
  3. Micheal is a Talented Cricketer.
  4. He has a very Respected Personality.
In the Above Sentences the Words Good, Bad, Talented, Respected are the Adjective of Quality Because these words show the Personal Quality of a noun Or Pronoun.

  • The Adjective of Quantity: Adjective of Quantity shows the Quantity of a thing or Persons. For Example..
  1. They were Four People.
  2. That water is not Enough to Swim.
  3. Juice Glass is very Little.
  4. I have a lot of Money.
In the Above Lines the Words Four, Enough, Little and A lot are the Adjectives of Quantity because it shows the Quantity of the Things.

  • The Adjective of Number: An Adjective which shows the Numbers of a thing or Persons. For Example..
  1. John Scored 4 Goals.
  2. She got 400 Marks.
  3. I have only 2 Friends in my Class.
In the Above Sentences the Numbers 4, 400 and 2 are Adjectives of Number Because it shows the Numbers of things or Persons.

  • Demonstrative Adjective: A Type of adjective which points towards a noun. For Example
  1. That is my old car.
  2. This is my favorite book.
  3. Those girls are good dancers.
  4. She is my girlfriend.
In the Above sentences the words That, This, Those and She is the Demonstrative Adjective because these words point towards a noun.

  • Possessive Adjective: Those Adjectives which Claim the Ownership of a Noun or a Place. For Example
  1. This is my Football T-shirt.
  2. That Girl is my Sister.
